The club meets twice a week:
- Thursdays 5pm at Pewsey Leisure Centre
- Saturdays 4pm at Marlborough Leisure Centre
Everyone is welcome! The first session is free subject to a 50p fee to cover insurance. Skates can be borrowed from the club for a nominal charge of 50p per session -provided we have your size, and it's first come first served! After your first visit the rate per hour is £3.00 (rates correct May 2010).
New skaters are welcome to stay for the first hour of each training session which is focussed on learning basic skills, and as skaters progress they will be invited to stay later into the sessions which move into more advanced dance.
The Moonrakers club was formed around 1996 from two groups of skaters and trainers from two existing clubs. Lorna and Jeremy Reynolds were formally trainers with West Berks RSC and the other founding members, Sue Maynard and Bill Veloz, were at Downlands RSC. When it was founded it had only 6 members- times have certainly changed, the club now has around 20 competition skaters, with members skating twice a week, as well as an additional once a month at Berks Leisure Centre.
